About Us

Scouts BSA Troop 4125 is for girls aged 11-17 who are interested in leadership development, want to learn practical skills, enjoy the outdoors, and want to create memories that will last a lifetime.  The girls troop was founded February 1, 2019, and meets every Tuesday at 6:45pm during the school year in the Fellowship Hall at St. Peter’s United Methodist Church in Wellington.

All of the Scouts are very excited for the opportunity to participate in the Scouts BSA program.  A few of the girls have brothers in the Scouts BSA boys troop and have been tagging along with them since their brothers were Cub Scouts.  Now, the girls can participate and earn everything available in the Scouts BSA program. 

The girls Scouting program follows the Scouts BSA program that has been in place for over a hundred years.  Patience will be exercised with the girls as they are new to Scouting, but they will be held to the BSA standard of excellence.  The girls troop is Scout-led meaning they have responsibility for the decisions of the troop under the guidance and support of the adult leaders.

Scouts are encouraged to work on advancement by fulfilling certain rank requirements.  Each rank has varied requirements from areas such as practical skills, first aid, outdoor skills, physical fitness, citizenship, etc.  Certain ranks require completion of advanced skills such as serving in leadership and performing service.  In the process, the Scouts learn to become more independent, and, over time, they learn to teach and lead others eventually holding positions of responsibility within the troop.

The troop has an outdoor program leading with a camping trip once a month, and the troop actively participates in service projects helping others around the community.  As the troop gains members and gains experience, their program will grow in variety and offerings.  

Troop 4125 is a completely separate scouting unit.  While several of the adult leaders serve both the boys and girls troops, the girls troop operates independently with its own program and calendar of events.  Although the troop is independent, it does have strong support from its charter organization, the Rotary Club of Wellington, as well as its fellow Scouting units, Scouts BSA Boys Troop 125 and Cub Scout Pack 125.

Planning for the new troop began over the summer of 2018 by conducting meetings, identifying adult leadership, and holding recruiting events for prospective members.  The adult leadership is a mixture of male and female leaders with several leaders being experienced leaders from the boys troop.  Parents are strongly encouraged to join adult leadership and will be provided training through the BSA online training program, Gulf Stream Council class offerings, as well as personal mentoring.
